This download provides a system by which to evaluate and calculate incentives for both BCBAs and BTs. The elements align with, and the methods for their implementation are outlined in, the performance management and incentive system for behavior analysts and behavior therapists, which you can access here, which includes 6 pages of detailed instructions and information about the content and how you might most effectively implement this system in your organization.
The calculations in the spreadsheets are based on two main categories; baseline performance criteria and utilization criteria. Specific incentive earned is in part dependent on how you weight these requirements. Baseline criteria is related to meeting quality and performance standards. This includes metrics related to quality of care, indirect position related admin responsibilities, including case management responsibilities for BCBAs, and value based care measures. These elements are criteria for determining whether the employee is eligible for an incentive payout, and impacts the level of that payout. The utilization metrics impact the tier or amount of payout to the degree you weight them relative to the baseline criteria.
Again, this is part of the broader performance management system. All the forms (available as a separate download) and spreadsheets are complementary to one another. The job description provides a general overview of the responsibilities for each position. The indirect checklists prepare clinicians for the face to face sessions, the face to face sessions generate certain follow-up responsibilities, and those follow-up responsibilities are then listed on the indirect checklists. The BCBA system includes two additional checklists to help ensure the integrity and compliance standards of patient records and treatment plans. All checklists for each position are summarized in the Performance Criteria for Quality and Compliance Standards – Period End Review (i.e. bonus) checklist for each position. The incentive calculation spreadsheet for each position is based on those very same categories. Those same sections from the bonus checklist are the basis for appraisal in the annual (or semi-annual) performance evaluation template for each position.
